Vimshottari Dasha is a 120-year cycle of nine planetary periods: Ketu 7, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19 and Mercury 17 years.
Where you start
The starting period is ruled by the lord of your Moon's Nakshatra, and how far the Moon had travelled through it decides how much of that first period was left at birth.
Sub-periods
Each Mahadasha is divided into nine Antardashas in the same order, proportioned by their years. Your Kundli page shows both the current Mahadasha and Antardasha.
How to use it
Think of a Dasha as the 'chapter theme'. Read the ruling planet's house and sign in your chart to see which areas of life it highlights — and use it for reflection, not prediction.
